Key Qualifications:
- Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Previous experience working with students who have visual impairments, preferably in a school setting
- Strong understanding of braille instruction, assistive technology, and adaptive techniques
- Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills; comfortable consulting with teachers, families, and other specialists
Primary Responsibilities:
- Conduct functional vision and learning media assessments to determine student needs
- Develop and deliver individualized instruction to students with visual impairments, adapting materials and curricula
- Provide direct and consultative services in multiple school settings as needed
- Train and support classroom staff, peers, and families on accessibility methods and specialized equipment
- Maintain detailed progress records and participate in IEP meetings
- Help ensure students have the skills and tools needed for academic and social success
