Desired Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification for Visual Impairment (VI) or eligibility for certification
- Previous experience working as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired preferred, but not required
- Strong understanding of adaptive technology, Braille, and accessible curriculum
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Compassion, patience, and creative problem-solving abilities
- Ability to travel between school sites, as needed
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments
- Develop and implement individualized lesson plans
- Collaborate with school staff and families to support student needs
- Assess academic and functional vision skills
- Adapt classroom materials, create accessible resources, and teach Braille as needed
- Provide guidance on assistive technology and orientation & mobility
- Maintain accurate documentation and progress reports
