- Ability to conduct functional vision and learning media assessments
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with fellow teachers, families, and support staff
- Proven ability to develop and implement individualized educational plans (IEPs)
- Organized, proactive, and adaptable to changing environments
Core Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students with visual impairments, both one-on-one and in group settings
- Adapt and modify curriculum materials to accommodate individual student needs
- Conduct assessments to determine vision-related educational needs and document student progress
- Advocate for accessible learning environments and proper accommodations
- Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, related service providers, and families to develop holistic support strategies
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute expertise regarding visually impaired learners
