Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) is essential
- Experience or confidence working with 18 students ranging from direct service to those learning Braille
- Proficiency in supporting IEP and 504 Plan processes, with 13 students requiring IEP coordination (including 4 direct service and 3 Braille learners) and 5 students on 504 plans
- Ability to adapt teaching strategies to a variety of educational settings and student needs
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and meet individualized goals
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, accessible, and personalized instruction to students with visual impairments across varying school locations
- Implement and update IEPs and 504 Plans in coordination with general and special education teams
- Teach and reinforce Braille literacy and adaptive technology skills where appropriate
- Advocate for student accessibility and provide consultation to school personnel on best practices for inclusion
- Maintain accurate documentation and progress reporting, following district requirements
