Teacher of the Visually Impaired in Murrells Inlet, SC

As a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI), you’ll work with a caseload of 18 students, including both those with IEPs and 504 plans. You’ll provide direct instruction, help students develop Braille skills, and foster independence in visually impaired youth, all while collaborating with a supportive educational team. The assignment runs from August to June, aligning with the school district calendar.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Active TVI certification (required)
- Previous experience as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired preferred
- Understanding of IEP development and implementation
- Experience or training in Braille instruction
- Ability to manage varying locations and multiple student needs
- Strong organizational, communication, and advocacy skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative instructional support to students aged K-12
- Adapt curriculum materials and provide specialized teaching strategies based on individual needs
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, service providers, and families
- Conduct assessments and track student progress
- Develop and carry out IEPs and 504 plans
- Provide guidance on accessible technology and tools
