Empower K-12 students to thrive in the classroom by providing vital support as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired in a dynamic and collaborative onsite setting. This contract position involves serving one school site near Cupertino, CA, alongside a team of dedicated TVI professionals. You’ll play a pivotal role in fostering independence and academic growth for students with a wide range of visual needs, working within the parameters of each student’s IEP.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid California Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) Certification
- California Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) Credential
- Background supporting students with visual impairments across K-12 settings
- Skilled in adapting curriculum to meet individualized needs
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities, collaborating with staff, families, and other TVIs
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instructional support to visually impaired students, modifying materials and strategies
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) based on student needs and goals
- Assess and monitor student progress, adjusting interventions as needed
- Collaborate with two other onsite TVI teachers to coordinate services and share resources
- Consult with classroom teachers and other staff to provide strategies and tools for student success
- Participate in IEP meetings and maintain accurate documentation
- Serve as an advocate for students with visual impairments within the educational setting
