You’ll collaborate with classroom staff and allied service providers, using creative coaching strategies to foster student progress.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Education Specialist Instruction Credential with a specialization in Visual Impairments (VI) is required
- Experience supporting students with visual impairments, preferably in an educational setting
- Proficiency in teaching and transcribing Braille
- Flexibility to adapt instructional styles and communication to the student’s needs
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
- Comfortable with virtual instruction, as remote service delivery is an option
Responsibilities:
- Work one-on-one with a high school student, providing intensive Braille instruction and support
- Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and related service providers to collectively enhance the student’s learning environment
- Utilize creative coaching techniques to help classroom teams support Braille development
- Contribute to progress monitoring, reporting, and adjustment of instructional strategies as needed
- Maintain open communication with school professionals and family members
- Participate in virtual meetings and professional development opportunities
