Teacher of Visually Impaired - Mojave, CA

Requirements & Preferred Experience:
- Valid Education Specialist Instruction Credential with a specialization in Visual Impairments (VI)
- Previous experience serving as a Braillist or teacher of students with visual impairments in a school setting
- Familiarity with virtual learning platforms and comfort providing remote instructional services
- Experience supporting students with very limited Braille skills is highly desirable
- Strong coaching skills to assist both students and classroom staff
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team
Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized Braille instruction to an 11th grade student requiring intensive support
- Provide services virtually, utilizing digital tools and resources
- Consult with teachers and related service providers to develop and implement effective Braille learning strategies
- Track and document student progress, regularly sharing insights with the broader educational team
- Coach classroom staff to reinforce sighted and Braille literacy skills, fostering the student’s independence
- Adapt materials and teaching methods according to student progress and changing needs
