Step into a rewarding full-time contract opportunity supporting students as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired in the Dallas area. You’ll make a tangible difference for a diverse caseload of 12-15 students, including both campus-based and homebound learners. You’ll travel between approximately six schools, collaborating with educators and families to help students thrive academically and gain independence. This is an on-site position, offering the chance to build meaningful connections across multiple campuses throughout the school year.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Texas State Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TSVI) license required
- Prior experience working with children or youth who have visual impairments, including those who are homebound
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Ability to adapt instruction to meet a fluid caseload and evolving student needs
- Flexibility to travel between multiple campus locations
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and consultative services for students with visual impairments, adapting lesson plans and materials
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, related service providers, and family members to support student access and success
- Conduct assessments and develop individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s needs
- Monitor student progress, maintain documentation, and participate in IEP meetings
- Utilize assistive technology and provide orientation & mobility cues as needed
- Deliver services in both school and homebound settings
