TVI - Mesquite, TX
Help students with visual impairments thrive in their educational journey by taking on a dynamic teaching opportunity as an itinerant professional. This full-time contract position supports students ages PreK-12 across multiple campuses in a busy district near Mesquite, Texas. You’ll play a pivotal role, working with a diverse caseload of 12–15 students, including those who are homebound, delivering direct instruction and collaborating closely with staff and families.
Position Details:
- On-site work only; virtual options are not available
- Full-time schedule: 37.5 hours per week, 7.5 hours per day
- Service provided across approximately six campuses, with caseload and locations subject to change throughout the year
- Position duration: July 30, 2026, through May 28, 2027
Qualifications:
- Must hold current Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments (TSVI) licensure in Texas
- Experience as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI), preferably in a school or itinerant setting
- Skill in adapting curriculum to support accessibility and independence
- Strong communication and collaboration ability, especially when coordinating with teachers, families, and support staff
- Flexibility to adjust to changing caseload needs and multiple learning environments
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative vision services to students ages PreK-12
- Regularly assess functional vision and adapt instructional materials and methods
- Develop and help implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Work alongside multidisciplinary teams to ensure each student receives comprehensive support
- Communicate progress and recommendations clearly with families and district staff
