Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid credential or certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Demonstrated experience or training in Braille instruction and adaptive technology for visual impairments
- Solid understanding of IEP process and ability to develop individualized educational plans
- Familiarity with assessments for students with visual impairments
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Ability to engage creatively with students of differing abilities and backgrounds
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instructional services to students with visual impairments across a variety of grade levels
- Adapt and modify curriculum materials into accessible formats, including large print, Braille, and digital resources
- Assess student progress and adjust teaching strategies to address unique learning needs
- Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, related service providers, and families to foster academic and social success
- Support students’ independence and orientation/mobility goals
- Stay current on best practices and educational technologies for students with visual impairments
