Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid teaching certification for Visually Impaired students
- Experience working in school settings or with children with visual impairments
- Knowledge of braille instruction and adaptive technology tools
- Ability to develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students, addressing unique learning needs
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with staff, families, and support professionals
- Flexibility and problem-solving abilities to adapt to evolving classroom needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative instruction to students with visual impairments
- Assess student progress, update goals, and maintain documentation as required
- Partner with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to promote inclusive learning experiences
- Support the integration of assistive technology and accessible materials into daily lessons
- Facilitate IEP meetings and participate in school-based teams as a subject matter expert
- Provide training and resources for staff members to enhance understanding and accommodation of visual impairment needs
