Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid teaching credential with an endorsement or specialization in Visual Impairment
- Previous experience working with students who have visual impairments, preferably in a K-12 setting
- Strong knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive materials
- Ability to assess student needs and develop individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with teachers, families, and related service providers
- Commitment to inclusivity and empowering students with diverse abilities
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative instruction to students with visual impairments in a variety of educational settings
- Conduct functional vision assessments and help develop individualized goals
- Modify curriculum content and classroom materials to accommodate various levels of visual ability
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and families to support student progress
- Offer guidance on the use of assistive technology and adaptive strategies
- Advocate for access and inclusion within the school community
