Step into a rewarding role supporting K-8 students as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired, guiding young learners across two vibrant school clusters in a dynamic, collaborative educational environment. This full-time contract position (35 hours per week) places you at the heart of student growth, moving between elementary, middle, and 9th-grade settings and working onsite to ensure continuity and impact.
Your expertise will empower a caseload of approximately 12 students, with school assignments structured primarily within the same cluster each day. You'll join a supportive team striving to create accessible, engaging learning experiences for every child, with specific caseloads thoughtfully aligned to your strengths and availability.
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Educator Certification with Vision endorsement required
- Previous experience teaching students with visual impairments in a school setting
- Familiarity with K-8 curriculum and adaptive instructional strategies
- Strong collaboration skills with general education staff, families, and specialists
- Passion for fostering independence and success in visually impaired students
- Comfortable working itinerantly across multiple school buildings
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction tailored to students’ IEPs and visual needs
- Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to ensure accessibility and inclusion
- Assist with the creation and adaptation of classroom materials and technologies
- Conduct ongoing assessments and contribute to the IEP process
- Serve as a resource for faculty regarding best practices for visually impaired learners
- Travel between assigned schools each day, occasionally visiting a third site as needed
