Bring your expertise in teaching students with visual impairments to an engaging contract opportunity supporting K-8 learners across clustered schools near Deltona, FL. This role offers a dynamic, itinerant schedule within close-knit elementary and middle school environments, ensuring meaningful connections with students and collaborative teams.
You’ll provide direct instructional support and consultative services to students who are blind or visually impaired, working with a manageable caseload of 12 students. Assignments primarily span two schools per day, with rare occasions covering a third. Your specialized skill set will empower students to access the curriculum, build independence, and reach their full academic potential.
Key Qualifications:
- Current Educator Certification with a valid Vision endorsement (or eligibility to obtain)
- Prior experience as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired within K-8 settings strongly preferred
- Familiarity with braille instruction, assistive technology, and IEP development and implementation
- Comfortable traveling between schools within a localized cluster
- Ability to complete time-sensitive district background check, fingerprinting, and district-specific forms
Core Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction in academic and compensatory skills, including orientation and mobility, to students with visual impairments
- Collaborate closely with general educators, related service providers, and families to support student success
- Maintain and update confidential student documentation in compliance with district policies
- Assist with the adaptation of curricular materials and recommend appropriate assistive devices
- Engage in IEP meetings, progress monitoring, and ongoing professional development
