Desired Qualifications:
- Current certification in teaching students with visual impairments (VI)
- Experience adapting instructional materials and curricula for students with varying levels of vision loss
- Strong understanding of assistive technologies and alternative communication methods
- Ability to collaborate effectively with general/special education staff, families, and related service providers
- Excellent communication, organizational, and advocacy skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction and support tailored to each student’s unique needs across multiple school sites within the district
- Develop, adapt, and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for all students on your caseload
- Conduct functional vision assessments and learning media assessments to determine appropriate interventions
- Train students in the use of assistive technology, mobility skills, and self-advocacy
- Consult and collaborate with classroom teachers to ensure curriculum accessibility
- Guide and educate families, staff, and peers to foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment
