Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Active teaching license with a certification for teaching students with visual impairments
- Prior experience as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired in educational settings
- Strong understanding of Braille and accessible instructional technologies
- Ability to adapt general education curriculum for students with visual impairments
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities with teachers, families, and support staff
- Organized, proactive, and enthusiastic about student advocacy
Role Responsibilities:
- Assess students’ individual needs and develop individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Deliver engaging, accessible instruction tailored to students’ visual abilities and learning styles
- Teach core academic subjects, orientation and mobility skills, and daily living skills as appropriate
- Consult with classroom teachers, specialists, and parents to foster inclusive classroom environments
- Advocate for technology and accommodations that support student access to educational materials
- Participate in IEP meetings, progress monitoring, and ongoing professional development
