Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) required
- Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
- Previous experience supporting visually impaired students, especially in a 1:1 setting
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with families and interdisciplinary school teams
- Compassion, patience, and creative problem-solving abilities within a classroom environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction to a visually impaired student, adapting curriculum to meet unique learning needs
- Apply evidence-based strategies and assistive technology to enhance access and student engagement
- Work closely with general and special education teachers, families, and service providers
- Monitor student progress, assess skills, and participate in IEP development and implementation
- Maintain accurate documentation and reporting in line with school and legal requirements
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and encouraging classroom atmosphere
