This rewarding contract opportunity places you in a supportive educational environment near Fort Pierce, FL, where you'll engage with diverse learners across five different schools. Your skills will enrich the educational experience for visually impaired students, ensuring access, inclusion, and personal growth.
What makes this role unique? You'll maintain a consistent, manageable caseload, working with 12 students directly (delivering 690 service minutes weekly) and providing consults to two additional students. Flexibility is key, as your assignments may span various campuses within the district.
Desired Qualifications:
- Active Florida Department of Education certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Proficiency in teaching Braille and adaptive technology
- Previous experience supporting K-12 students with visual impairments
- Familiarity with multi-site service delivery models
- Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to travel between multiple schools
- District fingerprinting required (prints may be transferred from AHCA Clearinghouse if applicable)
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized instructional plans for students with visual impairments
- Instruct students in Braille literacy and accessible educational technology
- Collaborate with general education teachers and other support staff
- Provide consultation and support to families and multidisciplinary teams
- Conduct on-site assessments and monitor student progress
- Ensure compliance with IEPs and educational best practices
You’ll enjoy a full-time schedule (35 hours per week) from October through early June, enabling strong relationships with your students. This on-site position allows you to directly impact a community eager for your knowledge and dedication.
