Desired Qualifications:
- Valid California Education Specialist Instruction Credential authorizing Visual Impairments, OR
- California teaching credential with authorization to teach visually handicapped students (EL CLAD)
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Proven experience or strong commitment to working with visually impaired students in a school setting
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to develop and implement individualized educational programs (IEPs) for students with visual impairments
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments, modifying curriculum and teaching strategies based on individual needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and families to ensure inclusive and accessible learning environments
- Complete assessments and maintain thorough documentation on student progress, goals, and accommodations
- Serve as an advocate for visually impaired students, fostering their independence and confidence within the school community
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute expertise for appropriate interventions and accommodations
- Stay current with best practices, technologies, and trends related to visual impairment education
