In this rewarding contract opportunity, you’ll serve as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI), making a meaningful difference across an education cooperative supporting up to 15 districts in the Morrill, NE region. Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid teaching certification with an endorsement in Visual Impairments (TVI) or eligibility to obtain
- Professional experience as a teacher for the visually impaired in a school-based setting preferred
- Ability to deliver both direct and consultative services to students, teachers, and support staff
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with families, multidisciplinary teams, and educational administrators
- Familiarity with braille instruction, assistive technology, and accessible instructional materials
- Demonstrated organizational skills to manage itinerant schedules across multiple locations
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction and support to students with visual impairments, individually and in small groups
- Assess students’ functional vision and learning needs, developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to modify curriculum, adapt resources, and create accessible learning environments
- Deliver in-service training and professional development to district staff on best practices for supporting visually impaired learners
- Consult on and support the integration of assistive technology and orientation and mobility needs as appropriate
- Travel between partnering districts within the education co-op to ensure continuity of services
