Teacher for the Visually Impaired - Gettysburg, Pennsylvania
Make a meaningful impact in the lives of K-12 students by providing support as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired. This contract position offers the opportunity to collaborate closely with district staff and make a difference throughout multiple school districts in York County. You will serve students throughout Southern, South Eastern, and Dallastown, ensuring that learners with visual impairments receive the specialized support they need for educational success.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Pennsylvania teaching certification for Teachers of the Visually Impaired.
- Background in supporting K-12 students with visual impairments within a school setting.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with students, staff, and families.
- Ability to travel between multiple school locations as part of an itinerant schedule.
- Experience developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) is highly desired.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction and support to students with visual impairments in K-12 settings.
- Work closely with educators, aides, and other related service personnel to adapt curriculum and learning environments.
- Provide consultative services and training for school staff regarding accommodations and adaptive technology.
- Monitor student progress, maintain thorough documentation, and participate in IEP meetings.
- Serve as a valuable resource for families and help advocate for student needs.
The contract runs from August 18, 2025, through June 1, 2026. You’ll enjoy the opportunity to truly make a difference while gaining broad experience by traveling among schools in York County.
