In this position, you’ll work closely with a specific student during their four academic blocks—two focused on reading and writing, and two on math—scheduled back-to-back from 12:00pm to 2:45pm, Monday through Friday. There is a slightly heavier emphasis on literacy support. The role encompasses both direct and indirect services, totaling approximately 15 hours per week (final details may shift according to student needs).
Desired Experience & Qualifications:
- Certification and experience as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Comfortable delivering both direct and indirect services virtually or in person
- Skilled at providing accommodations: document modification, text enlargement, and adapted assignments
- Experience collaborating with general education teachers to ensure access and prevent academic regression
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work professionally in multidisciplinary teams
Key Responsibilities:
- Support reading, writing, and math instruction per IEP goals during designated block times
- Collaborate in designing and adapting classroom assignments to maximize accessibility
- Provide consultative support to staff on best practices and accommodations for visually impaired learners
- Adapt instructional and curricular materials for accessibility
- Monitor and report on student progress and needs
