Make an impact supporting students with visual impairments in a flexible, part-time opportunity as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI). This contract position offers the chance to work on-site or virtually, based on your availability and location preferences. The need is for approximately 15 hours per week, with focused, consistent scheduling.
What You’ll Bring:
- Current certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired
- Experience working in educational settings, preferably K-12
- Knowledge of assistive technologies and accessibility tools for visually impaired learners
- Ability to collaborate with educators, modify assignments, and implement accommodations
- Strong organizational skills and adaptability with evolving student needs
- Comfort working independently and communicating effectively in both in-person and virtual settings
What You’ll Do:
- Deliver direct and indirect services primarily during two daily reading/writing and two math blocks (12pm–2:45pm, Monday through Friday)
- Prioritize literacy support, working closely with students during reading and writing blocks
- Collaborate with classroom teachers on assignment planning and modification to help students prevent academic regression
- Modify instructional materials (larger text, spacing, alternative formats) to meet individual IEP needs
- Offer consultation and training on best practices for supporting visually impaired students
- Adapt service delivery as students’ requirements evolve
