Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience working with children who are blind or have low vision in a school environment
- Strong understanding of adaptive technology, Braille instruction, and accessible instructional materials
- Exceptional communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team
- Ability to develop individualized education plans (IEPs) and participate in IEP meetings
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction and support to students with visual impairments, both individually and in small groups
- Adapt and modify classroom materials to ensure accessibility and understanding for all students
- Serve as a resource for classroom teachers on appropriate accommodations, assistive technology, and instructional strategies
- Conduct functional vision assessments and contribute recommendations for educational planning
- Monitor student progress, maintain detailed records, and communicate effectively with families and educational staff
- Provide training and support to staff, students, and families on the use of assistive technology
