A part-time opportunity is available for an experienced Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI), open to both on-site and virtual (VOCO) candidates. This contract role involves working closely with students to ensure accessibility and success within their academic day.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification or licensure as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired
- Previous experience teaching students with visual impairments in school settings
- Comfort with both direct and indirect teaching, including consultative and collaborative approaches
- Strong skills in adapting curriculum, creating accessible materials, and modifying assignments
- Ability to work with general educators to provide effective accommodations
- Effective communication skills and adaptability to evolving student needs
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction and support during student block times, with a focus on reading and writing
- Collaborate with classroom teachers on assignments, modifications, and accommodations (e.g., larger print materials, spaced writing areas)
- Offer in-classroom assistance and participate in collaborative planning to help prevent academic decline
- Complete both direct and indirect service hours as needed, supporting students’ diverse educational goals
- Maintain documentation, progress notes, and effective communication with educational teams
- Hours include approximately 13.75-15 per week, Monday through Friday from 12pm to 2:45pm, primarily for reading/writing and math blocks
