Bring your expertise as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) to a contract role offering both flexibility and purpose. We are seeking a dedicated educator who can provide impactful support to students with visual impairments, either onsite or via virtual platforms. This part-time opportunity is dynamic, with evolving details tailored to better serve student needs while maintaining reasonable work-life balance.
Predicted weekly hours are approximately 13.75, with total hours not to exceed 15 per week, inclusive of both direct and indirect service time. The schedule is structured around four instructional blocks—two reading/writing periods and two math blocks—scheduled from 12:00pm to 2:45pm, Monday through Friday. A stronger focus will be placed on literacy support, allowing you to make a significant difference in a student’s academic engagement and success.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Valid certification and experience as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired
- Confidence with both in-person and virtual instruction methods (VOCO)
- Familiarity with individualized education plans and classroom accommodations
- Strong collaborative skills for working alongside school staff and parents
- Proficient in document adaptation, such as increasing text size and modifying layouts
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instructional services during the designated blocks, with an emphasis on reading and writing assistance
- Support indirect student needs through assignment collaboration and consultation
- Adapt classroom materials and assignments, ensuring accessible learning formats
- Provide recommendations for accommodations to support individual academic growth
