Teacher for the Visually Impaired - Tacoma, Washington

Qualifications & Experience:
- Demonstrated competency with Unified English Braille code, evidenced by successful completion of one of the following: WSSB Braille Competency Test, NBPCB Unified English Braille exam, or a Library of Congress certificate in literary braille transcribing (per WAC 181-82-130)
- Previous school-based experience is highly desired
- Ability to produce and transcribe braille as well as create tactile learning materials
- Valid Washington State Driver’s License or evidence of equivalent mobility
- Successful completion of fingerprinting, WSP and FBI background checks, and sexual misconduct clearance
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide braille and tactile transcription/production for an elementary caseload
- Collaborate with educators and related service providers to support the individual needs of students with visual impairments
- Adhere to established standards for quality and accuracy in all materials produced
- Maintain confidential student records and uphold all school and state regulations
