Key Qualifications:
- Valid South Carolina Teaching Certificate with Visual Impairment (VI) endorsement required
- Prior experience working with students with visual impairments in school settings is highly valued
- Ability to assess and adapt instruction for learners with varying degrees of vision loss
- Strong communication, organizational, and advocacy skills
- Familiarity with assistive technology and Braille instruction is a plus
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction and consultation services to students with visual impairments at multiple sites, based on Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Evaluate students’ vision needs and recommend adaptive materials or instructional strategies
- Support classroom teachers by providing resources and training to ensure full access to curriculum
- Engage actively with families to foster student success and independence
- Travel between assigned schools within the district as an itinerant TVI
- Maintain accurate documentation and progress reports
