Teacher for the Visually Impaired - Moncks Corner, South Carolina

You’ll work in an itinerant capacity, collaborating with multiple school locations, and ensuring students with visual impairments receive the tailored educational support they need to succeed.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid South Carolina teaching certificate with a Visual Impairment (VI) endorsement required
- Previous experience working as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired or in related educational roles preferred
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, teachers, families, and support staff
- Ability to adapt instructional materials and methods to meet a range of student needs
- Commitment to supporting student independence, accessibility, and academic achievement
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and consultation services to students with visual impairments across assigned schools
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals in coordination with IEP teams
- Adapt curriculum materials for accessibility—using Braille, large print, tactile graphics, and assistive technology
- Assess students’ functional vision and learning environments to enhance participation and inclusion
- Support classroom teachers and staff with strategies, training, and resources that promote accessibility
- Advocate for student needs and foster self-advocacy skills
- Maintain meticulous records and contribute to required documentation and progress reports
