Key Qualifications:
- State certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) or eligibility to obtain it (out-of-state applicants considered)
- Strong understanding of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive teaching materials
- Experience creating and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, parents, and educators
- Flexibility to work with diverse age groups and skill levels
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assess students’ needs and develop tailored instructional strategies
- Deliver individualized and small-group instruction in academic subjects, orientation & mobility, daily living, and technology
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to adapt curricular materials for accessibility
- Document student progress and maintain accurate records as required by school and state guidelines
- Consult regularly with families and multidisciplinary teams to maximize student success
- Attend meetings, in-services, and professional development as requested
