Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Certification and credentials required to serve as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
• Previous experience working with children or young adults who have visual impairments

• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work alongside multidisciplinary teams
• Commitment to promoting student independence and confidence in both academic and life skills
• Flexibility and creativity in adapting materials and teaching strategies

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s unique needs
• Provide direct instruction in areas such as Braille, assistive technology, orientation and mobility, and adaptive daily living skills
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to modify curriculum, ensuring accessibility for students with visual impairments
• Maintain consistent communication with parents and guardians to support student progress and goals
• Conduct ongoing assessments and adjust instructional methods as necessary
• Serve as an advocate for students, increasing awareness and understanding of visual impairments within the school community
