Make a meaningful impact by providing specialized educational support to students with visual impairments in a vibrant school environment near the scenic Gulfport, MS area. As a Visually Impaired Teacher, you'll work on a contract basis to empower learners, adapt instruction to their unique needs, and collaborate with supportive teams of educators and families.
Qualifications & Experience:
- State certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience working with students who are blind or have low vision, preferably in a school setting
- Knowledge of braille, assistive technology, and adaptive resources
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with school teams, parents, and service providers
- Compassion, patience, and a creative approach to overcoming learning barriers
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and adapt lesson plans to meet the diverse needs of visually impaired students
- Deliver direct instruction individually or in small groups, both in the classroom and other settings
- Assess student progress and provide ongoing feedback to staff and families
- Train and support classroom teachers on best practices for inclusion and accessibility
- Collaborate on multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive support for each student
- Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with state and federal requirements
