Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) required
  • Current state certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
  • Prior experience in a 1:1 classroom or working directly with students who are visually impaired
  • Commitment to fostering accessibility and independence for visually impaired students
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills with students, parents, and educational teams

In this role, you will:

  • Deliver individualized instruction and support to a pediatric student in a 1:1 setting, adapting materials and lesson plans to meet specific needs
  • Assess student’s visual function and learning progress, implementing modifications and accessible technologies
  • Coordinate educational activities and develop strategies that promote participation, engagement, and growth
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—such as general educators, therapists, and families—to maximize each child’s educational experience
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to IEP development and progress tracking, ensuring compliance with educational guidelines
