Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (VI)
- Experience working as a Visually Impaired Teacher, and/or Sign Language Interpreter preferred
- Comfortable teaching students at various grade levels, from elementary to high school
- Strong understanding of instructional methods and strategies tailored for visually impaired learners
- Ability to conduct both formal and informal student assessments
- Skilled at prepping for and participating in ARD (Admission, Review, and Dismissal) meetings
- Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills
Responsibilities:
- Deliver customized instruction to meet the diverse needs of visually impaired students
- Design and implement individualized educational plans as required by the district
- Continuously assess and monitor student progress, adapting approaches as needed
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, families, and school staff
- Participate actively in ARD meetings to advocate for your students
- Foster an inclusive, supportive classroom environment
