Make a meaningful difference supporting students with visual impairments in a dynamic school setting! This full-time, contract opportunity spans the 2026–2027 academic year, with a schedule from August 10, 2026, to May 27, 2027. You'll work Monday through Friday, totaling 37.5 hours weekly, engaging with elementary, middle, and high school students.
In this role, certified Teachers for the Visually Impaired will provide essential instruction, collaborate with fellow educators, and ensure each student's full participation in their educational journey. You'll join an environment that values specialized skills and is dedicated to student achievement across multiple grade levels.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (VI Teacher)
- Experience working with students who are visually impaired, ideally across K–12
- Proficiency in delivering instruction and accommodations based on individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Familiarity with ARD (Admission, Review, and Dismissal) meetings and procedures
- Ability to conduct formal and informal assessments of student progress
- Skills in sign language interpretation are highly valued
Core Responsibilities:
- Deliver customized instruction to students with visual impairments according to district standards and IEPs
- Prepare for and participate in ARD meetings, communicating student progress and needs effectively
- Collaborate with general education staff, families, and related service personnel
- Record and monitor ongoing assessments through consistent data collection
- Provide consultation to colleagues regarding materials, technologies, and adaptive instructional strategies
