Qualifications:
- Valid Massachusetts Department of Education license as a Visually Impaired Teacher (VI Teacher License)
- Successful completion of all required MTELs (Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure)
- Experience working with students who are blind or visually impaired, preferably within school settings
- Ability to assess student needs and develop individualized instructional strategies
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and fellow educators
- Flexibility and adaptability in changing educational environments
Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction and support to students with visual impairments in person
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique strengths and challenges
- Modify and adapt curriculum materials for accessibility
- Collaborate with general education staff and related service personnel to foster inclusive classroom environments
- Provide training, consultation, and resources to staff and families regarding best practices in vision education
- Track student progress, maintain accurate records, and participate in IEP meetings
