Key Qualifications:
- Current certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) is required
- Proficiency in sign language interpretation strongly preferred
- Experience working with students across grade levels, particularly in school settings
- Strong knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques for visually impaired learners
- Capable of adapting curriculum and teaching methods per district standards
Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored instructional support to students with visual impairments, ensuring access to the general curriculum
- Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to foster inclusive learning
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to track academic progress utilizing both formal and informal testing tools
- Prepare for and actively participate in Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) meetings, contributing insights and documentation
- Maintain accurate student records and adapt plans as needed based on assessment outcomes
- Serve as an advocate for visually impaired students, creating accessible educational materials and environments
