Qualifications and Desired Background:
- Certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (VI Teacher) is required
- Experience working with students who are visually impaired across a range of grade levels
- Solid understanding of individualized education program (IEP) processes and implementation
- Skilled in developing and adapting instructional materials and teaching methods according to district standards
- Strong communication skills for ongoing collaboration with staff, families, and other stakeholders
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments across elementary, middle, and high schools
- Conduct formal and informal assessments to monitor student achievement and adjust instruction accordingly
- Prepare for and participate in relevant ARD (Admission, Review, and Dismissal) meetings, contributing expertise to IEP development and progress monitoring
- Collaborate actively with general education teachers and other specialists to support student inclusion and success
