Key Qualifications:
- Certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Previous experience working with school-aged students with visual impairments preferred
- Ability to travel within the county to multiple school locations as needed
- Proficiency in developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with visual impairments
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and school staff
- Current clearances as required by local school regulations
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and consultation services to students with visual impairments across multiple school sites
- Assess student needs, monitor progress, and advocate for appropriate adaptations and accommodations
- Collaborate with general and special education staff, families, and related service personnel
- Develop instructional materials and techniques to accommodate individual needs
- Participate in IEP meetings and support transition planning
- Stay current on best practices and technologies that support students with visual impairments
