Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid certification for teaching students with visual impairments.
- Previous experience as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired, preferably in a school setting.
- Strong understanding of assistive technology and accommodations for students with visual needs.
- Ability to travel between multiple locations throughout the district.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Organizational skills to manage an itinerant caseload effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and group instruction for students with visual impairments across various school sites.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to ensure appropriate accommodations and modifications are in place.
- Conduct assessments to determine student needs and develop tailored educational plans (IEPs) to address those needs.
- Provide recommendations and training on the use of adaptive devices and assistive technology.
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction and strategies as needed.
- Advocate for student inclusion and access within the educational environment.
