Teacher for the Visually Impaired - Orlando, Florida
Make a meaningful impact supporting students with visual impairments by bringing your expertise to an engaging, full-time contract role in a vibrant Florida community. As a Teacher for the Visually Impaired, you’ll provide direct instruction and support to K–8 students across elementary and middle school settings, fostering independence and academic growth. This position offers an exciting itinerant opportunity—primarily spanning two closely connected schools each day, rarely three, all within accessible clusters.
You’ll begin making a difference at the start of the 2026–2027 academic year, with a manageable caseload of approximately 12 students. Your specific student group and schedule will be tailored based on your background and availability, ensuring your unique skills are fully utilized.
Key Requirements:
- Valid Educator Certification with Vision endorsement
- Strong experience working with students with visual impairments, grades K–8
- Knowledge of specialized instructional strategies, assistive technology, and Braille
- Capable of collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, general education staff, and families
- Ability to travel between assigned schools within a close geographic area
- Commitment to completing district-specific credentialing, including background check, fingerprinting, and required forms
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and small-group instruction
- Assess students’ needs, developing and implementing effective IEPs
- Consult with teachers and staff to ensure optimal learning environments
- Provide support in orientation, mobility, and adaptive technology
- Regularly communicate progress with staff and families
