Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired, supporting students across the Lake Howell and Lake Mary school clusters near Orlando, FL. This full-time itinerant position spans the 2026-2027 school year (August 10, 2026, to May 25, 2027) and allows you to work closely with a manageable caseload of 12 K-8 students. The schools served include both elementary and middle campuses, with rare travel between up to three schools per day, all within the same cluster.
In this engaging role, you'll have the chance to collaborate with educators, administrators, and families while directly empowering students who are visually impaired to succeed academically and develop essential life skills.
Qualifications:
- Hold a valid Educator Certification with a Vision endorsement
- Experience teaching or supporting visually impaired students preferred
- Passion for inclusive education and student advocacy
- Strong communication, organization, and adaptability skills
- Ability to travel between assigned schools within the cluster as needed
- Successful completion of district background check, fingerprinting, and required forms
Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and group instruction to K-8 students in academic and functional areas
- Develop and implement appropriate Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Collaborate with general and special education staff to support student access and inclusion
- Conduct assessments to determine student needs and monitor progress
- Communicate regularly with families, offering updates and resources
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and district policies
