This full-time contract opportunity runs from October through early June, with a schedule of 35 hours each week serving K-12 students across five campuses. Key Qualifications:
- Current Florida Department of Education Teacher for Visually Impaired (TVI) certification.
- Experience teaching students with visual impairments, including proficiency in Braille instruction.
- Confidence traveling between schools to meet students’ needs.
- Ability to provide both direct instruction and consultative support.
- Strong organizational skills to coordinate services for 12 direct students (totaling 690 service minutes/week), plus two consultations.
- Completion of district fingerprinting, with the option to transfer prints from the AHCA Clearinghouse if available.
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver targeted instruction and support for students with visual impairments in grades K-12 across multiple school sites.
- Collaborate closely with educational teams, families, and community partners to develop and implement individualized education plans.
- Utilize strategies, tactile materials, and adaptive technologies to support each student’s access to curriculum.
- Maintain documentation and communication relating to service delivery and student progress.
- Serve as a knowledgeable resource for faculty and staff regarding best practices for students with visual impairments.
