Desired Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid state teaching certification for Visual Impairment or eligibility to obtain.
- Specialized training or coursework in education for the visually impaired.
- Experience with Braille, assistive technology, and adapted materials.
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Previous school-based or pediatric experience is a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess student abilities and develop effective instructional strategies tailored to individual needs.
- Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments across a range of abilities and grade levels.
- Consult with classroom teachers, school staff, and families to foster an inclusive learning environment.
- Train and support staff in the use of assistive technology, adaptive materials, and accessibility best practices.
- Ensure compliance with IDEA and state regulations regarding services for students with visual impairments.
- Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to IEP meetings, reports, and progress monitoring.
