Key Qualifications:
- Current state licensure/certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
- Demonstrated experience supporting students with varying degrees of visual impairment
- Strong knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and adapted instructional strategies
- Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and advocacy skills
- Flexibility and creativity in adapting curriculum materials
- Experience consulting with teachers, specialists, and families
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction tailored to students’ individual abilities and needs
- Adapt curriculum materials and classroom environments for accessibility
- Conduct assessments and collaborate in IEP development and progress monitoring
- Provide consultation and training for faculty and families on best practices for inclusion
- Support the acquisition and integration of assistive technology
- Maintain accurate documentation for compliance and reporting purposes
- Act as a resource and advocate for the needs of students with visual impairments
