Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid state licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) or eligibility for certification
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education, Visual Impairment, or a related field
- Experience developing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for visually impaired students
- Proficiency in teaching Braille, assistive technology, orientation and mobility skills, and adaptive techniques
- Strong communication skills with students, staff, and families
- Ability to travel to multiple school locations if needed
Primary Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments to determine students’ visual functioning and unique learning needs
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized instructional plans
- Collaborate closely with general and special education teams to ensure accessible curriculum
- Teach Braille, assistive technology, and other adaptive strategies
- Provide ongoing support, training, and resources to educators and family members
- Maintain accurate records and participate in IEP meetings
