Qualifications and Experience Sought:
- State certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Demonstrated experience designing and delivering instruction for students with visual impairments
- Thorough knowledge of braille, assistive technology, and orientation & mobility practices is strongly preferred
- Ability to collaborate with IEP teams, parents, and school personnel
- Strong organizational, communication, and advocacy skills
Core Responsibilities:
- Assess students’ visual needs and develop individualized educational plans
- Provide direct instruction in core academics, adaptive skills, and use of specialized equipment
- Modify curriculum materials and assessments for accessibility
- Consult with classroom teachers and support staff to ensure inclusive learning experiences
- Deliver training to staff on strategies and tools for working with visually impaired students
- Monitor and document student progress, adjusting services as needed
