Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired across Kane and Will Counties. This full-time, itinerant position spans 37.5 hours per week, serving K-12 students at multiple school sites in the area. You'll collaborate with dedicated school teams, delivering meaningful instruction and accommodations that empower students with visual impairments to thrive academically and socially.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience working with K-12 students in schools, preferably across multiple locations
- Strong understanding of Braille, assistive technology, and modifications for visually impaired learners
- Excellent communication, flexibility, and organizational skills
- Ability to adapt to various learning environments and student needs
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative services for students with visual impairments, based on IEPs
- Travel between multiple sites while managing a flexible schedule and caseload
- Assess students’ needs and deliver individualized instruction in core curricula and expanded core competencies
- Collaborate closely with general/special educators, families, and other related service providers
- Maintain detailed documentation, progress reports, and IEP-related paperwork
- Support inclusive practices and provide training for staff as needed
