Join an impactful educational environment as an onsite Teacher of the Visually Impaired, working with a dedicated school team near San Jose, CA. For the full 2026/2027 academic year (August 19th – June 4th), you’ll be collaborating with two other TVI professionals to support and empower students from kindergarten through 12th grade at one school site. Help ensure students with visual impairments have equitable access to the curriculum and thrive in classroom settings, with individualized approaches guided by IEP goals and each child’s unique strengths.
Key Qualifications:
- Must hold a valid Teacher of the Visually Impaired Certification for California
- Possess a Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) Credential
- Previous experience supporting students with visual impairments is highly valued
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Committed to fostering inclusive learning environments
- Comfortable working onsite and collaborating with general education staff
Role Responsibilities:
- Support academic and functional skill development for K-12 students with visual impairments
- Implement and adapt curriculum modifications aligned with each student’s IEP
- Collaborate closely with classroom teachers and two other TVIs to maximize student success
- Provide direct instruction in Braille, use of assistive technology, and orientation & mobility skills as outlined in IEPs
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development and adjustment of student goals
- Maintain detailed progress records and communicate effectively with families and staff
