You'll work collaboratively with school staff to deliver specialized instruction and accessible educational materials tailored to students' unique needs.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid California Education Specialist Instruction Credential authorizing Visual Impairments, or
- California teaching credential with authorization to teach visually handicapped students (EL CLAD)
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Strong knowledge of braille, assistive technology, and instructional techniques for visually impaired students
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Commitment to onsite work (this role is not open to virtual or hybrid arrangements)
- Previous experience with school-aged children, especially within special education, is highly preferred
Primary Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver individualized instruction aligned with IEP goals for students with visual impairments
- Assess students' progress and adapt strategies to maximize their learning potential
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to ensure a supportive learning environment
- Provide orientation and mobility support, as needed, to help students navigate their school environment
- Prepare accessible learning materials, including braille and large print resources
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to student progress documentation
- Serve as a resource for staff regarding best practices in visual impairment education
This full-time, onsite contract begins August 13 and runs through June 11, working 37.5 hours a week near San Jose, CA.
