Qualifications:
- Current California Education Specialist Instruction Credential authorizing Visual Impairments, or valid California teaching credential with EL CLAD and authorization to teach visually handicapped students
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required
- Demonstrated experience teaching or supporting students with visual impairments in a K-12 educational setting preferred
- Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse teams and families
- Strong organizational skills and a passion for promoting student independence and success
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support services to students with visual impairments
- Develop and adapt curriculum and lesson plans to meet each student's individual needs
- Conduct functional vision assessments and contribute to IEP development and review
- Liaise with general education teachers to ensure accommodations and modifications are implemented
- Promote the use of assistive technology and orientation/mobility techniques for increased access
- Maintain accurate documentation on progress, interventions, and communication with stakeholders
